You know how you KNOW something, but you don’t really feel it? Hmmm, well, I just got this very intense feeling of “Life is short! Are you doing what you want to be doing?”
It’s easy to say the words. But it’s a different thing to really FEEL it in your bones. And I feel it. I think babies can do that to you. And my best friend’s baby is graduating high school today! Which seems surreal.
So, life is short. It’s crazy!
And it’s funny, sometimes I’m afraid to do something or say something because I worry I might upset someone or look like an arrogant ass.
But that is not the way I want to be. If I feel like walking up and down the street banging pots and pans and singing “WE WILL WE WILL ROCK YOU! ROCK YOU!”, then as long as it doesn’t hurt anybody else and I’m not breaking any important laws (jersey has a lot of dumb laws. Like you can’t eat raw eggs or pump your own gas or strip if you’re a stripper. I made up one for Shawn- told him you can’t eat your own pants in New Jersey. He did it anyway. I digress), then I’m GOING for it.
I don’t feel like doing the pots & pans thing, at least not right at this moment. I do feel like talking to strangers, exploring my new town with my baby, working out while moaning & groaning, offering more programs, writing hopefully inspiring tidbits everyday for those who get something from it, wearing pajamas around the house, breathing deeply, and dancing to silly kid music. I feel like baking a chocolate cake. I feel like staring at my son and cracking up at his antics. And these are the things I enjoy right now. Is this success? To me, yes it is. It’s not a monetary thing, though monetary goals are fun! It’s a quality of life thing. Success to me is to be able to do the things I want to do and enjoy my life.
Tim Ferriss says “I can’t tell you the exact formula for success. But I can tell you what it isn’t. Try to please everyone.” It’s impossible to please everyone. Enjoy your life. That’s what it comes down to, right? Get INTO it! Tim Ferriss also says “Don’t ask for permission. Apologize later”.
Are you doing what you want to be doing? Or are you trying to be ‘normal’ and not ruffle any feathers. Marianne Williamson is famous for saying that you serve no one by not shining your light. Shine that light as brightly as you can!! It empowers others to do the same.
