I am going on a fast, of sorts… I am going to COMPLETELY eradicate complaining from my menu for an entire 7 days. I invite you to join me.
When you complain, what ends up happening? You generally find more to complain about.
In other words, when you complain, you are putting your precious energy into that thing you are complaining about and will receive more of that in your life.
And it is cyclical. We just keep on complaining, and the amount of things to be miserable about is never-ending.
Have you ever noticed that complainers have a tough life? They justify by saying “of course I complain, look how terrible my life is.” Of course, their life is terrible beCAUSE they complain. T.Harv Eker, author of “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” bluntly and correctly states that complaining is a ‘crap magnet’.
And do we like being around people who complain all the time? NO, it’s terrible!
So here is what I’m proposing:
I’m not going to complain out loud OR in my head for an entire 7 days. How will I control the little voices? I will be looking out for them and recognize them when they pop up, and replace them immediately with something more useful.
I suggest coming up with your ‘replacement’ catch phrase before you take on this challenge. One that is super easy to implement is to just say “cancel cancel!” to yourself. You can just think it, it’s not necessary to say it out loud (but hey, of course you can if you want to).
It’s just a little experiment. I invite you to join me. What’s the worst that could happen? You might enjoy a little more happiness and feel a little more free at the end of the 7 days. Try it and see!
